Information on electrical and electronic devices
The following information is aimed at private households that use electrical and/or electronic devices. Please pay attention to these important notes in the interest of environmentally friendly disposal of old devices and your own safety.
1. Information on the disposal of electrical and electronic (old) devices and the significance of the symbol according to Annex 3 of the ElektroG
Owners of old devices must ensure that these are collected separately from unsorted municipal waste. Electrical and electronic old devices must therefore not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste and particularly do not belong in household garbage. Rather, these old devices should be collected separately and disposed of through local collection and return systems.
Owners of old devices must also separate old batteries and old accumulators that are not enclosed by the old device before handing them over to a collection point.
The latter does not apply if the old devices are separated by public waste disposal authorities for the purpose of preparing for reuse of other old devices in accordance with § 14 paragraph 5 sentences 2 and 3 of the ElektroG.
Using the symbol according to Annex 3 of the ElektroG, owners can identify old devices that must be collected separately from unsorted municipal waste at the end of their life cycle. The symbol for the separate collection of electrical and electronic devices represents a crossed-out waste bin on wheels.
2. Information on the options for returning old devices
Owners of old devices can return them through the options for return or collection of old devices established and made available by public waste disposal authorities to ensure proper disposal of the old devices. If applicable, it is also possible to return electrical and electronic devices for the purpose of reusing the devices. More information on this can be obtained from the respective collection or return point.
At the following link, there is an option to view an online directory of collection and return points: https://www.ear-system.de/ear-verzeichnis/sammel-und-ruecknahmestellen
3. Note on data protection
Old devices to be disposed of may contain sensitive personal data (for example, on a PC or smartphone) that must not fall into the hands of third parties.
We expressly point out that end users of old devices are responsible for deleting personal data on the old devices to be disposed of.
